From the East:

My Brothers,

I would like to thank all the officers of the lodge for their dedication to lodge to allow us to once more win the Potts award at the Grand Lecturers Convention held on Thursday March 15, at Humanitas Lodge along with all the Brothers in attendance.

At our next meeting I will be giving a lecture on Patriots Day and the Masons and Freemasonry as a whole in its dealings with what the day commemorates. For those of you who do not know about Patriots Day it is a holiday that commemorates the actions of our nation’s forefathers in the dealings before and leading up to the battles of Lexington and Concord during the American Revolution. Unfortunately the State of New York does not recognize this day as an official holiday, but some states due in particular Massachusetts. The official date of Patriots day this year is April 16. I say it’s unfortunate that New York doesn’t recognize this day because these events led directly to the war for American Independence from Great Britain and what many people seem to forget is that these events took place over a year before our Declaration Independence in 1776. There were also many prominent Freemasons involved in these events such as Paul Revere, Dr. Joseph Warren and William Dawes.

The following meeting on April 19, 2012 will be move up night for the officers of the lodge along with the annual meeting of the Harry S. Truman Foundation. The foundation meeting is very important as we decide on which charities to donate to and how much. We also find out how much money was collected through the year along with a reminder to try to donate as much as we can for the upcoming year as our masonic obligations teach us. Remember my Brothers all members of Harry S. Truman are members of the Foundation which is the charitable branch of the lodge. I would also like to remind you that a donation to the Lodge is not the same as giving a donation the Foundation.

As spring seems to have come early this year I hope all you and your families are doing well and hope to see you at our next meeting.

Fraternally,
W.'.Steven Siegel

From the Secretary's Desk:

Brethren,

March! A time for change! The days are getting longer. Though we had a "warmer then usual" winter, everybody is looking forward to a warm spring. It is also the time to re-commit yourselves to your Lodge. Some thoughtful ideas were brought up at our last meeting, but implementing those means we need commitment from the members to show up at meetings. You joined Freemasonry for a reason! Not just to pay dues, and become a card bearing member. The camaraderie of the Lodge is still there. All we need is YOU!

On March 15 the District will hold it's annual Grand Lecturer's Convention in Humanitas Lodge which meets the same night we do, so there should be no excuse that you have to go out an extra meeting. ALL MASONS of encouraged to attend, from Entered Apprentice through Master Mason. No matter how many you may have attended, there is always something new to learn. The two AGL's of the District come form our Lodge. Let's support them. Please, plan to attend.

On May 5th the District will be honoring our outgoing District Deputy and Grand Lodge Staff Officer with a Dinner/Dance at Ricardo's By The Bridge (flier enclosed). This is an opportunity for the wives and friends to get together and meet you Masonic Brothers. Make your reservations today. Do not wait until the last minute. If you were going to a Broadway show, you have to reserve a head of time, so do the same for this. It is only a few weeks away.

Something to think about! This year's trip to Utica for St. Johns' weekend, we may be honoring a member of our Lodge who will be installed as District Deputy. This is another opportunity for the FAMILY (children included) to get together and enjoy each others company (details to follow).

Fraternally.
R.'.W.'. Martin Dashevsky. Secretary
