From the East:
My Brothers,
At our last meeting we saw a wonderful conferral of the second degree of Masonry. My congratulations to Bros: Ilia Podolsky, Yuri Primakov and Patrick Lang on being passed to the degree of Fellowcraft. This degree was conferred by our Senior Warden W.'.Jerome Hogan and the bulk of the degree work was done by mostly newer brothers in the craft or by brothers taking on much larger parts in the degree than they have in the past. For example the Senior Deacons work was done by our current Junior Deacon Bro: Paul Castellaneta who did a splendid job. We also had a brother from the 4th. Manhattan District the R.'.W.'. Paul Reist who helped us out at the last minute to give the lecture for the degree, which he did in a manner I know I have never seen before and many who were there hadn't either. I think the way he did it won't be forgotten for some time. To all the Brothers who participated in the degree I thank them for a job well done.
Several meetings ago I had asked for suggestions on what the brothers wanted to see covered during our time at work in quarries. One of the suggestions proposed by our Chaplin, the R.'.W.'.Joseph Mandel, DSA was to go over several sections of the pamphlet on Masonic Etiquette. There was interest in doing this especially among the newer brothers. So this is exactly what we are going to cover at our next meeting. I do not intend to go over the entire booklet but will select several sections to cover that I feel are appropriate. Remember my Brothers participation is the key if you have questions you need to ask them.
The following meeting on March 15, 2012 will be the Grand Lecturers Convention. The convention will take place in Humanitas Lodge all officers of the lodge are expected to attend and I hope we have a large contingent of brothers in our delegation.
We have also had several Brothers who have had surgery recently, W.'.John Kelly, Bro: Stephen Lovasz, and Bro: Joseph Manuella we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you a speedy recovery as possible.
Fraternally, W.'.Steven Siegel Master Harry S. Truman No. 1066

From the Secretary's Desk:
Brethren,
March! A time for change! The days are getting longer. Though we had a "warmer then usual" winter, everybody is looking forward to a warm spring. It is also the time to re-commit yourselves to your Lodge. Some thoughtful ideas were brought up at our last meeting, but implementing those means we need commitment from the members to show up at meetings. You joined Freemasonry for a reason! Not just to pay dues, and become a card bearing member. The camaraderie of the Lodge is still there. All we need is YOU!
On March 15 the District will hold it's annual Grand Lecturer's Convention in Humanitas Lodge which meets the same night we do, so there should be no excuse that you have to go out an extra meeting. ALL MASONS of encouraged to attend, from Entered Apprentice through Master Mason. No matter how many you may have attended, there is always something new to learn. The two AGL's of the District come form our Lodge. Let's support them. Please, plan to attend.
On May 5th the District will be honoring our outgoing District Deputy and Grand Lodge Staff Officer with a Dinner/Dance at Ricardo's By The Bridge (flier enclosed). This is an opportunity for the wives and friends to get together and meet you Masonic Brothers. Make your reservations today. Do not wait until the last minute. If you were going to a Broadway show, you have to reserve a head of time, so do the same for this. It is only a few weeks away.
Something to think about! This year's trip to Utica for St. Johns' weekend, we may be honoring a member of our Lodge who will be installed as District Deputy. This is another opportunity for the FAMILY (children included) to get together and enjoy each others company (details to follow).
Fraternally. R.'.W.'. Martin Dashevsky. Secretary
