From the East:

My Brothers,

My Brothers, It was very nice to see everyone last meeting especially after what seemed like a longer than usual holiday break. I would also like to thank W.'. John Kelly for his nice gesture in the donation of funds to that evening's coalition it really fit into the evening's theme of Brotherhood. We also had a couple of Brothers who filled in officer chairs that they never sat in before and did a great job. Thank you my Brothers.

On February 16, 2012 we will be holding a second degree and if anyone would like to participate please contact me or our Senior Warden Len Gottlieb. Just because you are not an officer in the lodge does not mean you can't participate in the degree far from it we would like all who wish to perform ritual a chance to do so. We would like to have more people perform ritual because it enriches our lodge in the fact that although we are performing the same work each one of has their own unique style in delivery and voice. This is what keeps the ritual fresh and not always having the same brothers doing the same part over and over again. In keeping with this theme this degree will be conferred by our own Senior Warden W.'. Jerome Hogan. W.'.Jerome was eager to confer a degree and approached me as early as last spring with his request to do so and I'm sure he'll do an excellent job.

If you have not been to a lodge meeting in a while I would like to ask you why? Is it because you don't have any time or is that you found them boring, or are the meetings not what you expected. We have been doing and trying some different things this year to try to keep things fresh and exciting and I've tried to make a conscience effort to keep the meetings from being overly lengthy. Is there something you would like to see or discussed? Remember my Brothers this lodge is all of ours and I for one am certainly open to suggestions as to what the members would like to see if possible. With that said please come to our next meeting February 2, 2012 with some suggestions and I would be more than happy to discuss them with you and the other members. I am sure with all the great minds we have in our Lodge we will have some great ideas to discuss.

I would also like to wish our Senior Deacon Bro: Stephen Lovasz good luck in his upcoming surgery we all wish him well and a speedy recovery.

Fraternally,
W.'.Steven Siegel
Master Harry S. Truman No. 1066
From the Secretary's Desk:

Brethren,

The following brothers are scheduled for surgery in the next few weeks: W.'.John Kelly and Brothers Stephen Lovasz, and Joseph Manuela. Please remember them in your prayers. We wish them all a speedy and complete recovery.

Do you have a child/grand child going to college, or starting college in September? Remember Grand Lodge has a Scholarship Assistance Program that is available to ALL children of Masons that are continuing their education by attending High Learning institutions. Applications are available NOW and the cut off date for them is April 1, 2012. There are no exceptions to this date, so if you are planning to apply you should DO SO NOW! The form can be downloaded from the Grand Lodge web site www.nymasons.org. click on Committees / Departments, click on Educational Assistance and download the PDF file for 2012.

Each month I receive back 3 or 4 letters that are not deliverable. It is important that when you receive a letter that has been forwarded from the Post Office, that the secretary of the Lodge be notified. After a time, the mail is no Longer forwarded, and by that time even the phone number (if I happen to have one) is no longer forwarded either, so there is no way to contact you.

PLEASE DISCUSS THIS WITH YOUR FAMILY SO THAT THEY KNOW TO NOTIFY ANY ORGANIZATION YOU MAY BELONG TO WHEN YOU MOVE OR IF G'D FORBID, YOU SHOULD DIE.

As important as it is to bring in new members, keeping the old members is more important. Don't become Unaffiliated because the Lodge lost contact with you. When you file a change of address with your friends and family, include you Masonic Lodge also.

This is something I say at Least once a year. but it seems to fall on deaf ears. If his mail was not returned, I would not have know about the death of Brother Chairkas who passed away in May.

So PLEASE contact the Lodge with ANY changes in your address, phone or e-mail so that we can keep our records up to date.

Fraternally.
R.'.W.'. Martin Dashevsky. Secretary
