From the East:
My Brothers,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends and good times. At this time of the year our thoughts always turn to family even more so than usual as we look forward to celebrating the holidays with them. It is also a bitter sweet time of the year as we remember those who are no longer with us and are greatly missed.
But, remember my brothers you have another family, your masonic brethren who also love you like a brother. If you have not been to a lodge meeting in a while your presence has been greatly missed. The beginning of a new year is a wonderful time to come back and work in the quarries of masonry with your brothers.
Not all lodge meetings need to be degree work or ritual only as experienced at our last meeting our annual festive board. I think it can be said a splendid time was had by all. What made it a great time was that the brothers truly enjoyed each other's company.
Our next meeting I will be stressing brotherhood with a short lecture and some short anecdotes showing examples of this and if you have any please feel free to share them.
Fraternally, W.'.Steven Siegel Master Harry S. Truman No. 1066
Happy New Year Another fresh new year is here. Another year to live! To banish worry, doubt, and fear, To love and laugh and give!
This bright new year is given me To live each day with zest. To daily grow and try to be My highest and my best!
I have the opportunity Once more to right some wrongs, To pray for peace, to plant a tree, And sing more joyful songs! - William Arthur Ward
| From the Secretary's Desk:
Brethren,
Do you have a child/grand child going to collage, or starting college in September? Remember Grand Lodge has a Scholarship Assistance Program that is available to ALL children of Masons that are continuing their education by attending High Learning Institutions. Applications are available NOW and the cut off date for them is April I, 2012. There are no exceptions to this date, so if you are planning to apply you should DO SO NOW!
This year I had to un-affiliate a number of brothers for non-payment of dues. Being a Mason is more than showing up at meetings. There are financial responsibilities, such as dues, donations to charities (through our Foundation) and corresponding with the Officers (especially the Secretary) about whether you can keep your obligation. If you are have financial or health problems, remember we are your Brothers, and we are here to help if we can. There are measures in place that help.
BUT IF NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT, WE CANNOT ACT ON IT. Don't add to the financial burdens of the Lodge. The Lodge has to pay per-capita tax on all listed members. We can not request relief unless you inform us of financial difficulties.
Dues are due as of November for the following year. If you do not have a 2012 dues card, then you have not paid your dues. PLEASE DO SO NOW!! Fraternally. R.'.W.'. Martin Dashevsky. Secretary
