From the East:
My Brothers,
Our last meeting was truly a wonderful event as we conferred honorary membership for two distinguished members of the craft .It was a dazzling sight to see a lodge room full of our own members as well as a large contingent from Grand Lodge including our current Grand Master, and two past Grand Masters. To say that our lodge room had a slight tint of purple to the eye would be an understatement.
This is a reflection of the two brothers being honored and upon our lodge. As I was feeling under the weather that evening and not sure if I thanked everyone at that time I will do so now. My sincere thanks go out to all the brothers who participated in the program that evening, as well as a special thanks to our secretary the R.'.W.'.Martin Dashevsky for setting everything up, the V.'.W.'.Michael Siegel as acting as our presiding officer for the event, and W.'.Jerome Hogan our Junior Warden for setting up our splendid meal before the meeting took place. To all the brothers that came out that evening my thanks as always and to the brothers whose cable tows did not allow them to be there your presence was truly missed.
At our next meeting on October 6, 2011 the primary business will be the official visit of the District Deputy Grand Master of the 8th Manhattan Masonic District the R.'.W.'.John Walker Robinson. The purpose of the visit is to check the books and for him to deliver the Grand Masters message. Please make every effort to attend to support our District Deputy and a full lodge room is the best way to accomplish this not only to show him support, but as brothers working together in friendship and brotherly love.
Other business at our next meeting and certainly not less important than the District Deputy visit we will be voting on a Bylaw change in regards to dues for membership as well as balloting on petitions for membership.
Fraternally, W.'.Steven Siegel Master Harry S. Truman No. 1066
| From the Secretary's Desk:
Brethren,
The following proposed By-Law change is necessitated by the increase in costs, including but not limited to, the cost of rent, food, and printing and postage.
Proposed By-Law change:
Sec. 6a: The annual dues for each member shall be $65.00 plus the Grand Lodge and District per capita tax. Dues is payable in advance at the first meeting in January.
"Life Time" members shall be required to pay $25.00 plus Grand Lodge and District per-capita dues. Signed by five brothers in good standing!
At our October 20th meeting we will be conferring the 1st Degree on qualified candidates. As you know, we have a lot of candidates in waiting, and I request that as a sponsor that you make sure that those who are invited respond quickly whether or not they will be in attendance, so that others can be invited in their stead if they are un-available. ON NOVEMBER 3, 2011, HARRY S TRUMAN LODGE WILL BE HOLDING A LADIES NIGHT HONORING R.'.W.'.ABRAHAM FICHTENBAUM AND V.'.W.'.FRANK L. PARKER, PRESENTING THEM WITH THEIR APRONS AND JEWELS OF THEIR NEW APPOINTMENTS
Mark your calendars now and plan to bring your friends and Ladies to this event. It has been a long time since we held an open meeting where the ladies were invited. PLAN TO ATTEND! There will be a pre-meeting dinner in the ante room of the Lodge with members of the Lodge, the ladies and guest invited. This is an opportunity to have the ladies of the Lodge meet, and see what we as Masons do.
WATCH FOR THE NEXT MEETING NOTICE FOR DETAILS.
