From the East:

Brothers, the instructive tongue and attentive ear sometimes speak a slightly different language and there are a few things that after last night's Foundation Meeting, I believe need clarification.

1. When you add a donation to your dues, and this is ALWAYS appreciated; it is for the benefit of the Lodge itself and does not get added to the Harry S Truman Foundation. Donations to the Foundation are distinctive.

2. If you cannot donate a large amount at one time to the Foundation, it is perfectly acceptable to give a small donation, of even a few small donations over the course of the year.

3. The number of charities our Foundation supports has been reduced because of the abysmal number of donations we've received this past year.

Every single dollar donated to the Foundation goes not only to good causes ranging from childhood diseases to Iraqi war veteran support, but are charities that we as Brothers of Harry S Truman Lodge chose ourselves.

Many Brothers of our Lodge are retired, a significant number have been furloughed and since the economy tanked it's been rough on all of us. However, as Masons, charity is something we hold in HIGH regard, and I am asking every single Brother of Harry S Truman Lodge to please give what they can to the Foundation. To continue the support we've given these worthwhile charities over the years, and also to resume support to charities we have been forced to drop. And please accept my thank you's and gratitude to all the Brothers who have, and continue to, support the Foundation.

Fraternally,
W.'.Frank L. Parker
Master, Harry S Truman Lodge #1066
