From the East:

At our last meeting, our Senior Warden Steve Siegel stepped up to the plate for move up night as Master. He and his line did a spectacular job and there is no doubt that the upcoming 2011-2012 year will be a great one. My thanks to Steve and his entire line for a job well done!

I also want to give my personal thanks to our most recent group of Masters Masons, who presented me with a beautiful Masonic ring last night. Words cannot accurately describe how incredibly moved I am by that! Brother Phil Cruz came up with the idea of getting identical rings for this very tight knit group of new Brothers, and getting one for the Master as well - So I would never forget them, and they would never forget each other or the Master when they were initiated, passed and raised. You are a truly special group, and rest assured that I would never forget you and that I look forward to cheering you on as you move forward in Masonry.

Our next meeting on April 7th we have a huge night! We will be honoring Brothers who have been in the craft longer than many of us have been alive, and presenting them with 50 Year Certifications. These men are the very foundation of the craft and deserve our respect and admiration.

We will also be honoring the Harry S Truman Lodge Mason of the Year Brother Aaron Tenenbaum. Brother Aaron has the uncanny ability to take care of setting up, volunteer to fill in a chair, and contribute to special events outside the Lodge before he's even asked! His participation and dedication to our Lodge are second to none, and it is my distinct pleasure to bestow this honor upon him as Mason of the Year for 2011.

Following the awards we will have our annual Foundation Meeting, and this is a good opportunity to take part in the workings of the charitable side of our Lodge.

There will be a Dutch-treat pre-meeting dinner beginning at 6pm at Limerick prior to the meeting. Lodge will open promptly at 7:30.

At our meeting on April 21st we will be conferring the Degree of Master Mason.

Please join us in raising these highly proficient Brothers to our ranks.

Sponsors are required to attend! To celebrate the raising of these new Brothers, and to celebrate the raising of our most recent group of Master Masons - Dinner in on the Lodge! We will have a pre-meeting dinner beginning at 6pm, and it will be free to all Brothers of Harry S Truman.

In order to accommodate the conferral of the Degree, Lodge will open promptly at 7pm! Note the earlier time Brothers. Spring is in the air, the weather is beautiful and to all our Brothers, particularly those of whom we have not seen in a while, we ask that you all join us for these 2 back-to-back special events to honor these Brothers will a full Lodge room. It's time to remember your cabletow, and to join the Brothers of your Lodge who will be more than happy to see you.

Fraternally,
W.'.Frank L. Parker
Master, Harry S Truman Lodge #1066
From the Secretary's Desk:

WHY? At this meeting we will be recognizing brothers who have been members of the Craft for Fifty years. That is longer then some of you have lived. BUT WHY? Why have they remained members for so long? They receive no monetary aide. They receive no medical assistance. They receive no rewards, except maybe tonight when they are recognized. SO, WHY?

Speaking for myself, who has been a Mason for 47 years, I can only say what Masonry means to me and try to explain why I travel 40 mites, which sometimes takes almost 2 hours, to a meeting that may last less time then my traveling back and forth. It's hard to put into words why I have devoted so much time to Masonry.

When I first joined I was all young man with a new family. I really did not know what I was getting into. There was no Internet or Google. The concept of a Fraternity was new to me. The only college I attended was the college of hard knocks, and we had no fraternity. But I came in with an open mind, and was awe struck by the ritual, and the camaraderie that I found in a Lodge Room. So much so that, I attend the Grand Lodge School of Instruction (which was highly recommended that I do), and immediately involved myself in the Lodge. I soon found, as I tell all the potential candidates I interview, that my life and my friends seem to revolve around the craft. I became involved, not only in the Lodge, but in the District as well. This led to my involvement in Grand Lodge as Grand Steward, Assistant Grand Lecturer, and eventually District Deputy Grand Master. I now serve as your Secretary, and spend up to 5 hours a week keeping the Lodge oil even keel. But it all starts with the foundation.

The friends and encouragement I received when I first joined, and which I cherish dearly, is what sustains me and makes mc want to be involved and remain involved. And I love it. We will also be honoring at this meeting the Lodge's own Mason of the Year, Aaron Tenebaum. Aaron is a relatively new brother who has shown a lot of support to the Master and the Lodge.

So let's welcome these brothers who laid this foundation, and a new "cornerstone" Aaron, and thank them for their contribution to the Craft. Also at this meeting we will he having our annual Foundation Meeting at which time we will be distributing the monies that was donated by YOU. Please plan to attend. It is YOUR money we are spending
