From the East:
Harry S Truman Lodge Hosts "Alchemy Eve"
It has been said that alchemy is the power or process of transforming something common into something special. Harry S Truman Lodge did just that with a public meeting called, "Alchemy Eve," a night of camaraderie linking Rosicrucian and Freemasons.
The bitter chill of the New York City air on Thursday February 3rd was not enough to hold off the Freemasons, Eastern Stars, Rosicrucian and guests from attending this remarkable event. In a Lodge room filled to capacity with men and women, the Presiding Officer, R.'.W.'.Martin Dashevsky kicked off the evening by introducing Rosicrucian Master Bangaly Kourouma of H. Spencer Lewis Pronaos, and W.'.Frank L. Parker, Master of Harry S Truman Lodge #1066.
After prologues from the East by both Masters, W.'.Frank seated the Lodge, and Master Bangaly led everyone in a guided meditation called, "The Council of Solace." Not a sound could be heard as a wave of tranquility overcame all the souls in the Lodge. It was reflective, relaxing, impressive, and set the tone for the remainder of the evening.
Brothers Terence Cipriani and Victor Escorbores, both of whom are Masons and Rosicrucians, gave instruction on the esoteric nature of Rosicrucians and the similarities and differences of our two respective Orders. The men and women in attendance then had the floor during the "Alchemy Forum," where many asked questions, offered opinions, and shared their personal experiences. Rosicrucian Frater Charles Bellavia, later read from public historical texts and made the correlation between this event and a similar one held in the 1920s, and expressed his wish that another be held in the future.
Following the closing words by Master Bangaly, the Lodge was raised by W.'.Frank for the benediction, when Masons and Rosicrucians alike followed the "amen" with those four powerful words, "so mote it be!" Then all joined together for a wonderful collation where the esoteric conversations continued amidst hugs, handshakes and the exchange of personal contact information.
Though like the alchemists of ancient times we were unable to transform lead into gold, we did something far more valuable and enduring. The elements of meditation, words, emotion, and ideas offered by Brothers and Sisters, Fraters and Sorors, came together at "Alchemy Eve," and were indeed transformed into something special - enlightenment, education and mutual respect.
Fraternally, W.'.Frank L. Parker Master, Harry S Truman Lodge #1066
