From the East:
You have eaten all the turkey and cranberry sauce, spun the dreidel, opened presents by the Christmas tree, watched the football games, made it through another blizzard, saw the ball drop on New Year's Eve, and now? It's time for the real fun to start!
2011 has begun and our time together at Harry S Truman Lodge #1066 will resume.
Our next meeting on Thursday January 20th we will be conferring the Sublime Degree of Master Mason, and I will be announcing this year!s Mason of the Year.
During the winter break one of our Fellowcrafts, Brother Phil Cruz, organized a tour of the Grand Lodge Building preceding our scheduled Proficiency Education Night. Almost every single Fellowcraft and Entered Apprentice (and we have a lot of them) attended. W.'.John Andrades gave a wonderfully detailed and informative tour, and then we went up to the Lodge room where our junior members studied their proficiency. It was a great night.
This unusually large group of Fellowcrafts is a particularly motivated group of Brothers. Organizing tours, participating in ritual work during the Entered Apprentice Degree, making their proficiency a high priority, and attending every meeting since the first time they knelt at our Altar.
I am extremely proud of these Brothers.
Now it is their turn to join us on the level as Master Masons, and with the example that they have indeed set for us, I call on all Master Masons of Harry S Truman Lodge to welcome these Brothers to our ranks by having a full Lodge on the night of their raising.
So join us Brothers! There will be a pre-meeting dinner on the 19th floor beginning at 6pm. Lodge will open promptly at 7:30. Please RSVP to our Junior Warden, Brother Len, and let him know you!ll be attending the dinner. The more the merrier.
I look forward to seeing you all Brothers, and God bless.
Just a heads up - Our first meeting in February will be our Rosicrucian Night, which is a "public meeting". Men and women are invited to attend, so if you want to invite your wife or girlfriend to the meeting, please feel free. I am working out the details with the Master of the Rosicrucian Lodge. But basically the evening will talk about the differences and similarities of our 2 Fraternities and the esoteric histories that make us "cousins". Several of the Rosicrucian's are Brother Masons, and one in particular is a member of Heritage Lodge (which meets at the Grand Lodge Building the same night we do). His Lodge will be bringing up a delegation during this event.STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER INFORMATION OF THE NEW LADIES NIGHT FROM THE DISTRICT.
| From the East (New Years Message)
As 2010 nears an end, I wanted to say how proud I am of the Brothers of Harry S Truman Lodge #1066. Masonically it has been a great year. The Officers are highly motivated, the Brothers are attending in greater and greater numbers with each meeting, and our Entered Apprentices and Fellowcrafts have eagerly and actively taken part in our Honorable Craft right out of the starting gate.
With that I must also point out that a number of our Brothers are no longer with us, and now reside with the Great Architect. To these Brothers, I offer remembrance and I ask that you keep them, their widows and orphans, in your thoughts and prayers.
Personally, for a number of Brothers of our Lodge (including myself), 2010 was a rough year. It may seem like a small or simple thing when you bring something before the Lodge under sickness & distress. It is neither small nor simple.
You are sharing something which in many cases is deeply personal, hurtful, or tragic. And you do this with the understanding that your Brother Masons will be sympathetic, offer their support, and will be there for you. As a Mason, you need not go through the rough times alone, and you are equally in good company to share the good times.
A new year is upon us. May your 2011 be filled with glad tidings, and be a joyous and prosperous year for us all! When you lift that glass or bottle at the 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... and make your toasts, please be sure that your Brother Masons wherever they may be are in your wishes for the new year, as you will certainly be in mine.
Fraternally, W.'.Frank L. Parker Master, Harry S Truman Lodge #1066
From the Secretary
Do you have a child or grandchild who will be entering or is in college next year? Grand Lodge has an Education Assistance Program that can help defray the cost of higher education. It may seem early, but the deadline for applications is April 1, 2011 and some of the requirements take time to put together. They include an essay, copy of school transcript (provided by school) with a GPA of 2.75 (80.0) or better, full time student with at least 12 undergrad or 9 grad credit hours.
After being filled out it has to be signed by the Master and Secretary. All of which takes time. If you need an application, contact me so I can send one out to you. Remember, no exceptions will be made to the application deadline.
