From the East:

A Question: What do get when you cross a picturesque landscape filled with Masons, their friends and families, with outstanding barbeque, the best Cajun food outside of Louisiana and absolutely perfect weather?

The Answer: The 14th Annual Harry S Truman Picnic at Kolping-On-Hudson.

It was without a doubt one of the best we've had. From the moment you arrived you were greeted by the aroma of blackened fish, shrimp, hotdogs and hamburgers. The swimming pool was filled with people, Brothers and families played horseshoes, and Kolping was alive with smiling faces, laughter, and filled bellies.

We had some new additions to the picnic this year: A live band called "Frankie and the Fantasticos" covered some excellent tunes, and the new Harry S Truman beer mugs were a complete hit. My personal thanks to Brother Steve Lovasz and his team of Brothers for putting it all together, and serving the Italian Ices!

I would also like to thank R.'.W.'.Joseph Mandel and his team of Brothers for the delicious food hot off the grill! Thanks to W:. John Kelly who donned his clown regalia and kept the kids entertained with games, magic, balloons and toys. Thanks to my wife Mary for the potato salad, and to her friend Penny for their great job helping out with the Women's Auxiliary. And a very very special thank you to ALL the Brothers who attended, and to their families and friends.

The best part is we get to do it all over again at next year's picnic in 2011!

I hope you all had a wonderful and fun summer, but now that fall is here it's time to get back to the quarries of Freemasonry.

Our upcoming meeting will be Honor's Night. Please come and show your support to the Brothers who have unfailingly shown their support for Harry S Truman Lodge.

Education for the evening will be on the finer points of the Degree of Entered Apprentice. I strongly encourage all Entered Apprentice and Fellowcraft to attend this meeting. This education will teach you some things you might not know about the meaning of the Degree, and will certainly help with your proficiency!

Brothers, I look forward to seeing you all at the Lodge, and at our pre-meeting dinner. It will be a fun enjoyable and educational night.

Fraternally,
W.'.Frank L. Parker
Master, Harry S Truman Lodge #1066
