From the East:
My sincere thanks to all our Officers, members and guest who made the Grand Lecturers Convention a huge success. The Convention had representatives from all the Lodges in the 8th Manhattan district. Due to the hard work of all the Officers of Harry S Truman, we have once again received the Potts Award. It is unfortunate that our Tyler, W.'.Donald Pisany D.S.A., was unable to attend due to ongoing health issues. Special thanks to the Past Masters of Truman, the brethren and guest for being in attendance. Let's not forget Brother Sullivan for his wonderful command of the ritual, and his manner for correcting mistakes. Our ritual needs more than the correct words, it needs a love of presentation, it should be performed and understood. There is also the need of the Brethren to understand there place and responsibility to the ritual and degree work! All of which was covered and conveyed. CCC ccc CCC.
At our next meeting we will be sharing a pre meeting dinner with the Brothers from Humanitas Lodge. After which we will visit Humanitas for presentations, then return to the American Room for coalition. We will also be visited by the M.'.W.'.Neal I. Bidnick who will be making a presentation to our secretary R.'.W.'.Marty Dashevsky. Brother Dashevsky has been and will continue to be hard worker in the quarries of Masonry and is well deserving of this presentation. Make ever effort to attend!
This event at this point be a closed meeting, all Masons are welcome! I would even suggest that all the brothers on the trestle board be contacted by their sponsors to attend. Since this is a closed meeting, our candidates awaiting investigation would be very welcome to attend the dinner and join us at 6:00.
Monday evening we attended the 8th Manhattan district meeting. Who can attend, well it is limited to YOU! Committees are assigned to district events, Masters share their upcoming events and degree work, reports are made. Two reports made concerned upcoming dinner events, the Mason of the Year, and the DD Testimonial Dinner. Please make an effort to respond ASAP as to your intentions for these events. R.'.W.'.Joe Mandel or W.'.Joe Ruiz for the DD Testimonial Dinner, W.'.Tony Pecorella or R.'.W.'.Marty Dashevsky for the Mason of the Year.
Brother Ted Jacobsen will be on Staten Island at the Giuseppe Garibaldi & Antonio Meucci museum for a Stamp canceling ceremony. Seems our Bro. Ted has designed two US Postal stamps of Brothers Garibaldi & Meucci, and will be on site for this event. http://www.garibaldimeuccimuseum.org/. If you are interested in attending and have questions, please contact Brother Ted at HarrySTruman1066@aol.com
It becomes my sad duty to report the passing of R:.W:. Mortimer J. Katzen.
He was 92 years old.
Initiated on 01/15/1957 in Comrade Lodge No. 1058 (now Brotherhood Lodge No. 1041).
Passed on 03/19/1957 in Comrade Lodge No. 1058 (now Brotherhood Lodge No. 1041).
Raised on 06/04/1957 in Comrade Lodge No. 1058 (now Brotherhood Lodge No. 1041).
For those of us who knew Morty, he was a pleasure to be around. An extremely generous man, and as one of the 10 who do everything very busy up to his passing. Here were some very large working tools put to rest. We can only hope the fraternity can develop our young members into men of his character. May his soul rest in peace.
Fraternally,
W.'.Tony Pecorella

From the Secretary's Desk:
March is a busy month. March 20 will be a "Joint Meeting"
March 24 is our annual District Mason of the Year. Come out and support the Mason of the Year, Bro. Frank Parker from our Lodge.
District Deputy Visits:
HOMECOMING Thurs., Apr., 17, 2008 Humanities
Calendar of Events:
Monday March 24, 2008 - 2008 Mason of the Year Saturday April 26, 2008 - Teddy Roosevelt Memorial Outing Saturday May 03, 2008 - District Deputy/Staff Officers Dinner Dance
- The Mason of the Year Dinner will be held on March 24. The event is limited to Masons and prospective Masons. While it is easy to say the price is only $40.00, it is for a worthy cause. This year we will be honoring our SD Bro. Frank Parker. It was a tough choice as there are so many in the line and Lodge deserving of this honor. Let's come out and raise a toast to this Brother who has worked so hard this year.
- For all who can attend, there will be a dinner in Delaware on Friday, March 28. The last time I attended there were over 700 Masons from Delaware, Penn., New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts. Transportation will be provided in front of the GLB for a two o'clock departure.
- Please contact the Master or the Secretary for tickets.
