From the East,
Summer is near and we will once again be hosting the annual Harry S Truman family picnic. Since this event has been so well received by all who have attended in the past, what more can I say to promote this day! What may prove interesting is for you to provide a favorite dish or desert!
W Ted Padawer DSA our organist and now RW Ted Padawer Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge Occidental de Columbia near the Grand Lodge of the State of New York receive his certificate on April 16. I would like to thank RW Joseph N Mandel, W Joseph Ruiz, W Bernard Goldstein and Bro. Carl Lentoni for taking the time from their busy schedule to travel and attend this event.
A second event is planned for Sunday May 18 at 3:00 at Spartan 956 1st Nassau. Since this commission is through his mother Lodge, some travel will be required. This will be a public event, your Ladies and families are requested. Attendance will require a reservation, if you are interested please click the link above and follow the instructions.
There has been some discussion in the Lodge about making every meeting a pre-meeting dinner. It would seem that the cost of eating at the local establishments can be greatly reduced by the pre-meeting dinner. Since there is a conflict for the coalition space on the third Thursday, we will plan for the first Thursday. Since we cannot do this and operate at a loss, the price will be between $10 & $15 dollars. Most of all it will contribute to our Masonic interaction. The success of this program or any other program will be in your hands!
The other evening, I spoke about our need to support other Lodges. Recently I attended a Lodge out east, an entered apprentice degree. When the brother viewed the lodge the walls of the temple were sparse. Your presence would have made a difference in his perception of the craft. We will also be raising four Brothers on May 1, I would hope that they will not have the same experience.
Fraternally, W Tony Pecorella

We have had a number of returns with e-mail and postal mail. If you have stopped receiving your e-notification or postal mail, this is your chance to correct the issue.
By now all who have not yet paid their dues have received a Second Notice. If you received one, please submit immediately. Dues are payable by Nov. of each year, and the Lodge cannot operate without the complete cooperation of all members.

Since we will not have a Ladies Night this year, our event will be that of the Testimonial Dinner Dance to honor RW H. Stephen Lieb and RW Larry Barnard. If you and your lady are planning to attend, please do not hesitate, hesitation causes confusion in the planning and in the long run, detracts from what could be a great event. A yea is just as valuable as a na to the planners. Mark your calendar, and please respond by April! The dinner will be held at Riccardo's by the Bridge, 21-20 24th Ave, Astoria on May 3, 2008.
