FROM THE EAST

My Brothers,

Our 165 Communication was a relaxing and enjoyable evening.  Under our Educational program, the thrust this year is understanding the words and historical concepts so ingrained in our ritual.  Often we hear words and statements in our opening and closings that truly do not bring a concept to mind.  Our ritual is a fantastic work, weaving the Bible, ancient and medieval history into a cohesive set of rules, and morals to live by.    I cannot imagine how our for-brothers were able to compile all these concepts and then weave them into what we call Masonry today.  And to think they didn't have the aid of Google!  Yes, it is hard enough to learn the work, and now we bring into play the concept of learning it's meanings.

The Lodge Educational program was designed to be an easy way of learning about our craft.  It is not however intended to intimidate, anyone in the room!  If you have done some research, stand up and be heard.  If you hear a question posed, and want to do the research please do so, at your speed.  Have a question about the opening and closing or degree work, ask, as there are no stupid questions!  Public speaking issues, no problem, we will assign someone to do the public part.

Bro. Frank Parker gave a report on the third St. John mentioned in the Middle Chamber Lecture, linking the historical and religious aspects.  Brothers Gottesman, Rosenberg and Lentoni joined in the discussion, bringing into play what these St. Johns represented symbolically.  A question from the floor, which represented all I have mentioned in this message,   The question was asked, and the answer returned! Bravo Brothers

Unfortunately the fun doesn't last forever and it is back to the business of the Lodge.

Our next scheduled meeting will be a third degree, and your presence and participation is required!  We will be raising five fellowcraft and holding the drama.  Let's welcome them into our Lodge with your support and presence!

Often the record of our lives and actions go un-noticed.  Honorable mention is called for W Ken Arrango.  As we all know, life doesn't always deal a good hand, and many are handed burden that can be crushing and long term.  W Arrango requested the services of his brothers from the Electrical Square Club No. 420, to assist a family in need.  W Arrango, W Joe Ruiz and Bro. Dale Havens and many co-workers donated their time to this worth cause, and deserve your applause, for being Masons in their hearts.

Fraternally,

W Anthony Pecorella

By the time you receive this you will have received your new Dues Notice (or soon will). Dues are due by Nov. 1. Anyone who is in arrears for two or more years is subject to un-affiliation, not only from our Lodge, but any concordant bodies (Shriners, Square Club, Royal Arch, Council of Cryptic Masons, etc).
If you have any difficulties with paying dues, notify the Secretary, we may be able to help.

Education:

Bro. Ted Jacobsen has prepared a lecture on Giuseppe Garibaldi. (postponed Scheduled District Deputy Visit).
MAGLA will hold it's Ritual Contest on April 29, 2008. This contest is open to all Master Masons under the rank of Worshipful Master. Contact R
\W\Joseph Mandel, or V\W\Michael Siegel for details.

E-Notification: Please provide your email address so that we can provide you with a more comprehensive version of our meeting notice.
Mailings: The Lodge mailings need your help, if you can donate some of your time to a part of the process, please step up and join the behind the scenes committee

Web Site:

Our web site at www.hst1066.com is up and running, and a resource for this lodge.  Many of us are associated with other  Masonic organizations,  Square Clubs and social groups.  As a brother of Harry S Truman, your actions in life reflect your Masonic upbringing, and as such should be documented for the good of the Fraternity.  Feel free to supply pictures, event descriptions and names in the photos to our web master.
Web masters need to feel love, and they way they gain that feeling is through your interest in the work they do in the form of feedback and submissions.

ANNUAL CHARITY DRIVE

The calendar says it is officially the fall season, but the thermometer isn't in agreement.  Be that as it may, it is that time of year again. The time to look deep into your soul and come to grips with the fact that there are others out in the world that are less fortunate, and they need our help.  So, put your hand deep into your pocket and come out with a generous contribution for our annual charity drive.

By now you should have received a letter from our Worshipful Master imploring you to contribute to our
ONE AND ONLY charity drive of the year.

Last year, through the efforts of W
\Michael Estrada, our annual charity drive raised over $10,000 for our many worthwhile endeavors.  We would hope you will do the same and honor our current Worshipful Master, W\Anthony Pecorella, with the same generosity.
